The community is invited to provide feedback on the draft Good Governance Framework after the next steps were agreed to at last night’s Council meeting.
Mayor Cr Andrea Metcalf said having a framework was important to the local community, Councillors and City of Greater Bendigo staff.
“A Good Governance Framework provides the community with confidence that the decision-making processes from Council and the organisation serves the public interest, meets legislative requirements, builds respect and trust, and is fair and reasonable,” Cr Metcalf said.
The framework outlines:
The draft framework proposes seven key principles of good governance: to be accountable, transparent, compliant with law, responsive, equitable and inclusive, effective and efficient, and participatory.
Community members are invited to review the draft Good Governance Framework document and then provide feedback by completing a quick survey.
Feedback is open from Tuesday April 23 to Monday June 3, and its findings will inform the final draft which will be considered by Council later this year.
